This Week in Visual Kei: Budokan Dreams & Final Farewells — Nov 2, 2026

What a week, friends. Visual Kei delivered the goods across the board—major milestone announcements, emotional sendoffs, and enough live energy to power a small city. This is the kind of week that reminds you why we’re all obsessed with this scene.

Let’s start with the big moves. G-FREAK FACTORY just booked their historic Budokan debut for 2027, cementing their status as one of the scene’s most important contemporary acts. Meanwhile, Aooo are riding high after releasing their first live DVD from the Zepp tour and dropping a Budokan announcement of their own. These aren’t just venue upgrades—they’re statements.

On the flipside, we’re saying goodbye. THE MICRO HEAD 4N’S shared their final artist photo this week ahead of their December farewell show, and if you haven’t grabbed tickets yet, move fast. This is the end of an era for a legendary unit, so don’t sleep on it.

Album and release season is in full swing. Hump Back dropped their 10-Year Anniversary Album ‘Hump Back 2016-2026’—a retrospective that spans a whole decade of Japanese rock brilliance. the GazettE, meanwhile, shared demo tracks during what the band described as a challenging period, giving fans an intimate look at their creative process. And in a curveball moment, Miku from Antic-Kafé covered OxT’s “Grateful Story” as a digital single, bringing anime tie-in energy to the VK sphere.

The live circuit stayed scorching hot. SAWAGE achieved a sold-out revenge show after a February shortfall, proving their dedicated fanbase won’t be denied. Kuroyume’s birthday spectacular marked an evolution into a new phase—always inspiring when a legendary act keeps pushing. VINYL unplugged teamed up with Shinjuku Shinon-kai for a spring two-man live, while Yui’s 路地裏堂 solo project announced an emergency 2-man show that fans are already scrambling for.

And because Visual Kei loves to surprise, IQ99 dropped their first Halloween song ‘Oh!透明大作戦’ MV—yes, we’re already into the Halloween content—and a LUNA SEA tribute band called LUNA CHEE went viral in a McDonald’s CM, bringing mainstream crossover moments we didn’t expect.

Watch next week for more tour announcements and whether any of the ongoing album teases finally materialize into full reveals.
