October 2026 in Review: Autumn Brings Farewells, Comebacks, and Career Milestones Across the Visual Kei Scene
October reminded us why Visual Kei endures: a month of bittersweet goodbyes mixed with triumphant returns, genre-pushing new music, and the kind of career moments that define a scene's history.
Tours & Live Events: The Road to Year-End Spectaculars
October was electric on the live front. Aooo capitalized on their Zepp success by announcing a Budokan show, while G-FREAK FACTORY secured their own historic Budokan debut for 2027—a landmark moment for the explosive outfit. GODLAND wrapped their Darkland Tour with authority, while Psycho le Cému closed their revival tour at Shibuya, cementing the month's sense of both closure and renewal. Looking further ahead, AKi announced a New Year's Eve double-header spectacular, and The THIRTEEN plotted their Christmas Eve and year-end shows.
Band Milestones: Anniversaries, Reunions & Farewells
October was heavy with symbolic moments. THE MICRO HEAD 4N'S shared their final artist photo before their December farewell, while Deathpair released final albums ahead of their October disbandment. On the flip side, ClearVeil announced a 20th anniversary reunion live for 2027, and Angelo celebrated two decades with a triumphant finale. KISAKI's 50th birthday milestone show received an on-demand release, honoring a Visual Kei legend.
New Releases: From Halloween Hooks to International Ambitions
IQ99 dropped their first Halloween song "Oh!透明大作戦" with seasonal flair, while Verde/ unveiled "Pale Black/" and announced their 3rd anniversary tour. The GazettE released demo tracks during a challenging period, showing artistic vulnerability. Internationally minded acts made waves too: Jupiter announced a European return for 2027 with a new album concept reveal, and glamscure headed to Latin America while discussing their album "pilgrimage".
Collabs & Spin-offs: The Interconnected Web
Plastic Tree's Arumura and MUCC's Tatsurou united for an electric two-man show, while VINYL unplugged and Shinjuku Shinon-kai teamed for a spring live. Yui's solo project 路地裏堂 announced an emergency two-man show, expanding the solo project ecosystem further.
