VK Chronicle Month in Review: September 2026

September proved that Visual Kei's appetite for anniversaries, international expansion, and bold creative reinvention shows no signs of slowing down—and the scene ate well.

Tours & Live Events

The month was dominated by major touring announcements and electrifying live moments. Sadie and DEZERT ignited Yokohama in a fiery co-headline that left fans breathless, while Kuroyume completed their arena circuit with a "perfect" Tokyo finale. International reach expanded considerably: BLAZE geared up for their first European tour, while f5ve added Brisbane to their Australia circuit. Perhaps most poignantly, INORAN returned to Asia after a decade away, with a grand final on the horizon.

Milestone Anniversaries & Releases

September was the month for celebrating legacies. MUCC marked their 30th anniversary with their 50th single, "Love Letter," a staggering milestone few bands achieve. 浅葱 announced an elaborate 20th anniversary campaign featuring dual albums and a nationwide tour, while SHAZNA's iconic "Melty Love" returned for their 30th anniversary. L'Arc-en-Ciel reissued 12 classic albums on vinyl, cementing their status as untouchable legends, and GLAY returned with their 18th album, "Tabisuru Riyuu wo Machininagara." Looking ahead, 9GOATS BLACK OUT announced a 20th anniversary revival live for May 2027.

New Music & Creative Pivots

DEZERT shared a live video for "音楽" with their major 2nd album arriving in October, while 黒蜜 explored love's dark side with their "飼い猫" MV. shallm released the concept EP "Anti After School" alongside its MV, and Paledusk welcomed John as an official member, releasing "GOLDEN GOAL." The THIRTEEN members launched festive collabs and events that had fans celebrating.
