浅葱 Announces Elaborate 20th Anniversary Campaign with Dual Albums & Nationwide Tour
After two decades of boundary-pushing visual artistry and genre-defying compositions, solo Visual Kei artist 浅葱 (Asagi) is marking his 20th anniversary with an ambitious dual-album project and extensive nationwide tour that challenges conventional album-cycle expectations.
The centerpiece is a striking new visual for “アサギマダラ” (Asagi Madara), a signature track from his 2018 major label debut album 『斑』. The imagery presents 浅葱 as a pinned butterfly specimen—alive and dead simultaneously—surrounded by layered, luminous colors. This beautiful surface conceals a darker narrative: a possessed collector who captures butterflies, drains their life force, and mummifies them. Yet the butterfly’s internal poison ensures poetic revenge, its soul transcending physical captivity to embark on endless migration once more.
The symbolism runs deep. Asagi Madara butterflies are known for extraordinary long-distance journeys, and that migratory essence mirrors 浅葱’s two-decade career—one defined not by settling into a single aesthetic, but by perpetually traversing boundaries between opposing territories: Japanese and Western traditions, beauty and horror, life and transcendence.
The 20th Anniversary Campaign Structure
Rather than a conventional new-album tour, the “浅葱／ASAGI 20th Anniversary Year chapter III” campaign releases two simultaneous full-length albums: one rooted in Japanese sensibilities (和, wa) and one embracing Western influences (洋, yo). The tour structure mirrors this duality with 2-Day runs in each city, allowing fans to experience both interpretations of his artistic identity.
The limited editions include music videos: “アサギマダラ” for the Japanese album, and “組曲 狂王 第零番” for the Western album.
Tour Dates (Oct 2026–Feb 2027)
The campaign launches October 31–November 1 in Akita and concludes February 20–21 in Tokyo. The 12-leg itinerary spans Sapporo, Shinjuku (twice), Sendai, Saitama, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Kashiwa, and Fukuoka, with special events including a members-only tamazoo outing and exclusive invitation concert.
