This Week in Visual Kei: Festival Season Kicks Off — May 25, 2026

What a week for the Visual Kei calendar. Between major tour announcements, debut moments, and festival lineups dropping, the scene is firing on all cylinders as we head into summer. There’s genuinely something for everyone right now — whether you’re chasing the established heavyweights or hunting for fresh blood.

Let’s start with the big festival and tour news, because it’s been loud. Sadie just announced THE UNITED KILLERS 2026, and yes, MUCC and DEZERT are headlining — that’s the kind of lineup that sells out fast. Over in Gunma, FOMARE are launching their inaugural two-stage festival, which speaks volumes about their pull in the underground circuit. And if you’re into the softer end of the aesthetic, the “Reiwa no Sofubi” tour uniting heidi., HELLBROTH, The Benjamin, and LAY ABOUT WORLD looks like a genuine scene moment for the soft Visual Kei wave. Age Factory, ENTH, and Paledusk are also locked in for the GOBLIN Zepp Tour 2026 — that’s premium venue real estate right there.

On the international front, Moi dix Mois, D=OUT, and THE MICRO HEAD 4N’S are heading to London, which is always a signal that Western interest in VK is still climbing. Worth marking your calendar if you’re in the UK.

New music and debuts dominated the release side. Fukuro dropped a single and music video for “CHOCOLATE WAR” — always worth watching Fukuro’s moves. The real conversation starter, though, was Kuromitsu’s debut MV for “君のハーフツインを食べたい,” and the buzz around them is already building. Seventh Vega just released a studio live video for “Cryter” that’s worth your time if you’re into their sound.

There’s also a nice reminder that fashion and culture feed the VK ecosystem: Mitsuki’s THE MALEVOLENT EDUCATION is dropping its 17th collection in August, and that’s being positioned as a live event. It’s the kind of crossover between music, fashion, and lifestyle that keeps the scene’s identity distinct.

Finally, Seek from Psycho le Cému had KISAKI on his radio show — a good reminder that even established names are still actively creating content and collaborating across the community.

Catch your breath though — next week’s schedule is already shaping up, and the festival season is only just warming up.
