"Reiwa no Sofubi" Tour Unites Four VK Acts for Soft Visual Aesthetic
Four Visual Kei acts are joining forces this autumn to celebrate the resurgence of “soft visual” — the lyrically-driven, melody-focused strain of VK that flourished in the late ’90s and early 2000s.
The tour, titled “令和のソフビ” (Reiwa no Sofubi / “Soft Visual of the Reiwa Era”), launches in October 2026 and emphasizes emotion over aggression, beauty over raw power. It’s a deliberate reclamation of an aesthetic that feels both nostalgic and urgently contemporary.
The Lineup
heidi. brings enduring songwriting craft and disciplined live presence — they’ve built a steady fanbase on introspective melodies and genuine emotional delivery. HELLBROTH counters with sharp yet delicate sensibilities, balancing intensity with restraint. The Benjamin represents what modern soft visual could be: literary worldbuilding meets distinctly Japanese melodic sensibility. And LAY ABOUT WORLD rounds out the bill with kinetic energy and forward-thinking arrangements that refuse to simply pastiche the past.

The aesthetic here isn’t pure revivalism. Rather, it’s asking: what does “soft” Visual Kei sound like in 2026? The answer appears to be refined, literary, and unapologetically emotional — qualities that feel refreshingly countercultural in today’s music landscape.
