Kαin & D≒SIRE Honor Late Friend With Emotional Tribute Show

On October 10th, two veteran Visual Kei acts came together at Takadanobaba CLUB PHASE for an evening that transcended a typical two-band bill. What unfolded was a deeply personal memorial wrapped in thunderous rock—a free live marking both the 33rd anniversary of Kαin’s Yukiya’s musical journey and the birthday of Laputa’s late vocalist, aki, whose final home stage was this very venue.

The show represented a symbolic full circle: D≒SIRE, the band that once toured alongside Laputa in the 1990s, reunited with original guitarist Seishi taking the stage for the first time since May. Though bassist Shuurou remains sidelined due to illness, the core lineup—Yukiya on vocals, Seishi and Tachibana Mai on guitars, and MIE on drums—delivered a performance steeped in raw emotion.

Kαin opened the evening with surgical precision, their post-punk sensibilities cutting through the packed venue. Yukiya wielded his voice like a weapon across tracks including “die4you,” “graver,” and “BARREL”—each song a visceral dialogue between performer and audience. The crowd responded with feral energy, their voices intertwining with Yukiya’s in moments of devastating beauty.

A highlight emerged when Kαin unveiled “TEAR,” a forgotten demo-era D≒SIRE track that turned the entire room introspective. Here was the historical weight of the evening made tangible—a song born in an era when aki was still alive, now performed as an offering to his memory.

During his MC, Yukiya spoke candidly about running this annual free show purely out of friendship. He acknowledged that some attendees might not know the history behind the date and venue—and that was fine. What mattered was keeping the tradition alive, honoring a fallen friend, and reinforcing music’s eternal value across generations.

Closing with “光-hikari-“ and “証-akashi-,” Kαin left no dry eyes. These weren’t just songs; they were testaments to survival, to carrying grief as a compass rather than a burden.

D≒SIRE’s full reunion show is scheduled for May 3rd, 2027 at Shinjuku ReNY. For now, track Kαin’s movements through their official channels and streaming platforms—because this band’s message of perseverance through darkness demands to be heard.
