DIV Release "Vampire's Applause" Ahead of Recharge Hiatus

Visual Kei four-piece DIV is heading into an extended hiatus—but not before leaving fans with a final burst of creative energy. On October 1st, the band dropped “Vampire’s Applause,” a hard-hitting new single that arrives as the swan song before their “recharge period” begins.

For those unfamiliar with DIV, the Tokyo-based outfit—featuring vocalist CHISA, guitarist 将吾, bassist ちょび, and drummer satoshi—has carved out a reputation for crafting aggressive yet melodically sophisticated rock that balances raw physicality with introspective lyricism. This latest track exemplifies exactly that formula.

“Vampire’s Applause” showcases a live-oriented arrangement that reveals both the band’s current sonic direction and hints at future possibilities. Satoshi originally composed the piece, with full band arrangements elevating it into something heavier and more textured: weighty guitar tones, expressive bass work, and an arresting solo line all collide with CHISA’s confident, melody-driven vocal delivery. Notably absent are cheap vocal tricks or unnecessary aggression—the power here comes from sheer melodic conviction.

Lyrically, CHISA and satoshi collaborated on a bilingual approach: satoshi’s Japanese foundation was reimagined by CHISA into primarily English verses that maintain the original’s emotional nuance. The song cuts at something genuinely uncomfortable—the discomfort of having your identity and words repackaged by someone else’s agenda, cloaked in false understanding and kindness.

The accompanying music video, again helmed by satoshi, explores themes of light and shadow alongside stolen identity. Visual metaphors for the loss of agency permeate the imagery, creating a direct visual echo of the song’s lyrical concerns.

This release arrives mid-tour: DIV is currently running their PRE-RECHARGE ONEMAN TOUR across Japan, with shows scheduled through November 22nd at Shibuya’s WWW X. That final Tokyo performance marks their last gig before the hiatus kicks in. It’s a strategic choice to release such a forward-looking, energetic track now—a promise that the band’s hunger remains intact, and that what emerges from their recharge will be worth the wait.

Tickets for the November 22nd finale are available through the official ticketing platform. Stream “Vampire’s Applause” and explore DIV’s full catalog via their official channels and preferred streaming services.
