MASKED BEYOND Event Bridges Visual Kei & J-Rock
A bold new initiative is challenging the boundaries between Visual Kei and mainstream J-rock, and it’s launching this October in Tokyo. The MASKED organization—known for their “V-kei is freedom” ethos since 2025—has announced MASKED BEYOND vol.1, a specially curated bill designed to create unexpected chemistry between two distinctly different rock scenes.
The event takes place October 13 (Tuesday) at clubasia in Tokyo, with doors opening at 5:30 PM and the show starting at 6:00 PM. Four bands will perform: Arurucan and RAZOR representing the Visual Kei side, alongside Azami and KALA from the broader J-rock world. The concept isn’t just about mixing genres for novelty—it’s about pushing each scene forward by fostering genuine cross-pollination between their music, aesthetics, and fanbases.
The MASKED organization has already proven this model works. Their 2026 spring events across three Shibuya venues (Spotify O-EAST, O-WEST, and duo MUSIC EXCHANGE) sold out both days, demonstrating genuine appetite among fans to experience Visual Kei and J-rock artists sharing the same stage space.
MASKED BEYOND positions itself beyond simple genre fusion.
