HERO & BabyKingdom Host "Rengeki" Festival Dec 16
The annual “Rengeki” festival is back with a stellar lineup that showcases the diversity within the visual kei underground. Taking place on December 16 at Shibuya REX, this year’s event centers around HERO and BabyKingdom—two pillars of the contemporary VK scene—and brings together five bands representing distinctly different interpretations of visual aesthetics and sonic aggression.
Returning favorites Nicori Light Tours will share the bill alongside three notable additions. Most exciting is the return of Ikuma (formerly of And/REIGN) leading his latest project, 暴れるバンド (Abareru Band), known for their raw, unrestrained energy. Equally compelling is DaizyStripper, whose sleek guitar work and theatrical presentation have earned them a devoted following. Rounding out the lineup is Yūgiri’s solo venture under the banner of SUN PROPOZE, giving fans a chance to experience this veteran’s vision outside his main project.
The event’s support lineup reads like a who’s who of active session musicians: I’LL (FEST VAINQUEUR) on guitar, Nanassei (R指定) on bass, Ayami (Tentacool Opera) on keys, and Tohya (vistlip) on drums. This constellation of talent ensures the sound quality will be impeccable across all sets.
