GLAY Announce 64th Single "Dirty Hero" With Anime Tie-In
GLAY are gearing up to unleash another chapter in their legendary discography this September, and the 64th single brings exactly the kind of multi-layered package that’s kept the rock legends relevant across three decades.
“Dirty Hero” (汚れた英雄) drops September 23rd, 2026, and it’s far more than a standard release. Guitarist and songwriter HISASHI crafted the title track after drawing inspiration from the film of the same name, exploring its protagonist’s inner conflict. The song debuted live at Kアリーナ Yokohama back in January and has been evolving through live performances ever since—a fitting approach for a band that’s always treated the stage as a laboratory. What makes this particular arrangement stand out is a rare Fast Rap delivery from vocalist TERU, a stylistic choice that adds unexpected fire to GLAY’s typically melodic framework.
Beyond the title track, the single carries serious collaborative weight. TERU penned “Never Say Never Again,” which serves as the opening theme for the second cour of the anime “Diamond no Ace act II -Second Season-“ (premiering October 2026). According to TERU’s own notes, the song grapples with something profoundly human: offering solace to those wrestling with trauma and pursuing dreams, even when words fail.
The package itself reads like a greatest hits session. Three new studio tracks sit alongside five expertly curated live recordings from 2026 shows—including performances from the special LAWSON 50th Anniversary concert and the nationwide hall tour. A third original, “Radio Star,” rounds out the new material with classic GLAY melodicism.
Physically, fans can choose from CD+Blu-ray (¥3,400), CD+DVD (¥3,400), or CD-only editions (¥2,200). The video editions include bonus footage from premium live events, ensuring that even casual listeners get a taste of GLAY’s formidable stage presence.
