the god and death stars Release Reinterpreted EP with New Lineup

the god and death stars have marked a significant milestone by releasing their first record with a revamped four-piece configuration, and the results prove that adding fresh talent can breathe new life into familiar material.

The band—fronted by vocalist and guitarist aie, alongside bassist kazu and drummer 大嵩OJ潤—recently welcomed guitarist マヤママユ to their ranks, a development that prompted them to revisit six of their most defining tracks from the early days. The result is 再解釈EP【過去の赤い】(Reinterpretation EP [The Past Red]), released today across Japan.

Rather than simply rerecording their back catalog, the band reimagined these songs with fresh arrangements that honor their original character while embracing the fuller, more layered guitar textures that マヤママユ brings to the live stage. Longtime fans will recognize staples like “過去の赤い蜂” and “past the red tonight is the night,” but the enriched production gives each track a different emotional weight. It’s reinterpretation in the truest sense—evolution without erasure.

The EP is available exclusively through live venues and the ArCADE online store, with a limited blue-case first pressing that includes a signed postcard from all band members—while supplies last. A pink-case variant is also available at shows.

Additionally, the band’s 2025 single “林檎に剃刀” (Apple and Razor) is now streaming across all major platforms.

To celebrate the release, the god and death stars launch their 16th anniversary tour, 【過去の赤い -ナッツナッツゴッドナッツ-】, hitting Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo through late July. Tickets (¥5,500 advance / ¥6,000 day-of, plus fees) are on sale now through e-plus.

Head to the band’s official site and X account for the latest updates, and grab your copy of 再解釈EP【過去の赤い】 directly from ArCADE before the signed editions disappear.
