SID Release First Fan-Voted Best Album After 24 Years

After nearly a quarter-century as one of Visual Kei’s most consistent acts, SID is marking a major milestone: their first-ever fan-curated best-of album. Announced during a YouTube livestream on July 8th, Stories of SID arrives September 2nd and represents a fascinating snapshot of the four-piece’s evolution from their 2003 formation through today.

The album compiles 30 tracks across two thematic discs—BALLAD and BEAT—selected by fans from SID’s 172-song catalogue. The tracklist balances fan favorites like “モノクロのキス” (which launched their major-label career via the Black Butler anime in 2008) alongside deeper cuts and a brand-new original, “泥濘,” written specifically for this release. It’s a love letter to their fanbase and a statement of intent for what’s next.

SID—vocalist マオ, guitarist Shinji, bassist 明希, and drummer ゆうや—have earned their stripes. A 40,000-capacity Tokyo Dome show in 2010, Budokan sold-outs, the Yokohama Arena 15th anniversary finale in 2018, and consistent touring across Asia have cemented their status as one of Japan’s hardest-working rock exports. That they’re simultaneously running their first live house tour in eight years (29 shows nationwide) while announcing a hall tour speaks to their relentless work ethic.

Three editions are available: Limited Edition A includes a commentary disc with member Q&As; Limited Edition B is a luxe box loaded with merchandise and exclusive goods; and a standard edition with both albums. Retail chain exclusives sweetten the deal across Amazon Japan, Tower Records, and other partners.

The SID Hall Tour 2026 ~Re:Quest~ kicks off in October and November across Atsugi, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukushima, Chiba, and Tokyo, with two nights at Shibuya LOVEZ (November 28–29). All-reserved seating runs ¥8,800. Meet-and-greets are scheduled in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka through November.

For Western fans, this is a perfect entry point—or reentry—into SID’s world. Head to their official website at sid-web.info for the full tour breakdown, ticketing details, and streaming links. Their YouTube channel and streaming platforms have the goods.
