ミスイ Unveil New Look, Release 'Genjitsu Houki' Limited CD
Visual Kei act ミスイ are hitting the ground running this summer with a fresh aesthetic and plenty of reasons to catch them live. Hot on the heels of their May full-length release Doku ni mo Kusuri ni mo, the band has already locked down their next move: a limited venue-only single titled Genjitsu Houki (Reality Rejection), available exclusively at live shows from July through September.
The track itself is a potent cocktail of heavy low-end bass and aggressive instrumentation paired with emotionally resonant vocals—the kind of song that hits different depending on how you experience it. Spin it through headphones or catch the newly-filmed music video, and the lyrics will lodge themselves deep. But witness it live, and you won’t be able to stop your head from thrashing. ミスイ have already dropped the full MV, showcasing the band’s bold new visual direction that’ll accompany them through the summer months.
What makes this release particularly interesting is the format: Genjitsu Houki is being pressed as an 8cm CD—a format that’s experienced a genuine underground resurgence among Japanese music fans in recent years. Originally purchased largely as collectible merch, these compact discs are now being rediscovered as legitimate audio formats (8cm adapters are widely available). The band clearly hopes fans will approach this as a proper single, not just a souvenir.
ミスイ’s summer calendar is packed. Beyond the limited single tour, they’re joining Ruiza’s Redo-curated BURNING SOUL event circuit throughout July, hitting a two-man tour across Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Sendai with Z CLEAR in August, and delivering concept-driven one-man shows including the amusingly titled “BISHONURE 2026” on July 30th at Ikebukuro RED-Zone ANERIS—yes, the members will literally be wearing Hawaiian shirts. It’s the kind of absurdist energy that defines modern VK live culture.
Whether you’re into sprawling festivals, intimate two-bands-one-stage dynamics, or thematic one-man spectacles, ミスイ have something lined up. Check their official schedule at misui-official.com for all dates and details, and grab Genjitsu Houki when you catch them live (¥1,000, starting July 3rd).
