SID's Akki Announces Bass Clinic Dates for September 2026
Visual Kei enthusiasts with a passion for bass musicianship have reason to celebrate: SID bassist Akki is bringing his acclaimed bass clinic series back to Tokyo this fall. The two-day event is slated for September 19–20, 2026, at ESP GROOVE LOUNGE TOKYO, promising an intimate deep-dive into his technique, gear, and creative process.
SID, one of Japan’s most enduring Visual Kei acts, has maintained a dedicated international fanbase through their theatrical performances and technically sophisticated songwriting. Akki has long been recognized within the community as one of the genre’s most inventive bassists—his fluid playing style and commanding stage presence have become cornerstones of the band’s sound since their formation in the early 2000s.
The September 19 session will feature a special collaborative performance with Shio (MAQIA) on drums—a pairing that promises electrifying interplay between two seasoned percussionists. Attendees can expect Q&A segments, informal discussion, and live demonstrations. Two performances run back-to-back: Part 1 opens at 2:00 PM (starts 2:30 PM) and Part 2 opens at 4:30 PM (starts 5:00 PM).
September 20 shifts focus to gear fundamentals, equipment lectures, fan-requested song performances, and audience interaction. Here’s the exciting part: attendees can film one demo performance per session—a rare opportunity to capture footage for personal keepsakes, though social media posting is prohibited.
Adding another layer of intrigue, Akki will unveil a prototype bass currently being used during SID’s ongoing “Your Favorite Place 2026” live house tour. Fans will witness firsthand the tools driving the band’s current creative direction.
