Plastic Tree Releases 17 Full-Length MVs From Victor Era

If you’ve been meaning to dive deeper into Plastic Tree’s post-2012 catalogue, the band just handed you the perfect entry point. The neo-visual rock legends have uploaded 17 full-length music videos to YouTube in one fell swoop, marking a significant moment for Western fans who’ve struggled to access this era of their work.

For those unfamiliar, Plastic Tree stands as a pioneering force in the neo-visual movement. Formed in December 1993 by vocalist/guitarist Arimitsu Ryutaro and bassist Hasegawa Masashi, they achieved major label status in 1997 and have been relentless ever since—headlining the Nippon Budokan twice, undertaking international tours, and maintaining an unbroken creative presence across three decades. Their sonic range spans from aggressive guitar-driven rock to surprisingly infectious pop moments, all wrapped in the theatrical presentation that defines their visual identity.

The band transitioned to Victor Records in February 2012 with the single “静脈” (Keimyaku), and the label has since become their home for album releases and singles. While some MVs like “痣花” (Abizahana), “ざわめき” (Zawameki), and “メルヘン” (Märchen) were already circulating in full, this new batch includes essential tracks like “C.C.C.” and expands the band’s visual discography considerably.

The timing is particularly meaningful: Plastic Tree are currently in the midst of their “Phylogenetic Tree Live 2025/2027” tour, a retrospective journey through their classic albums. With their 30th anniversary looming in 2027, this video dump feels like a strategic repositioning—reminding the world (and especially Western listeners) that their Victor-era output is just as vital as their earlier work.

Head to YouTube to start exploring these videos, and keep tabs on Plastic Tree’s official channels for tour announcements and new music. If you haven’t caught them live during the Phylogenetic Tree tour, now’s the time to pay attention.
