ExWHYZ Share "00:00" Before Final Show

As ExWHYZ counts down to their disbandment this August, the band has unveiled a poignant new single that captures the weight of their final moments. “00:00”—arriving July 1st at midnight—marks the third advance track from their swansong album zION, and it’s a collaborative effort that brings together some genuinely inspired creative minds.

The track pairs ExWHYZ with sound producer and longtime collaborator Shin Sakiura, whose production work and live support have been integral to the band’s sonic evolution since their debut. Joining forces is rapper and vocalist Rachel, known for her work with the hip-hop unit chelmico and her solo project ohayoumadayou. This marks Rachel’s first songwriting credit for ExWHYZ, despite the natural chemistry on display.

Thematically, “00:00” is about the midnight before the band’s final day—that liminal space where endings blur into new beginnings. The production is unexpectedly uplifting: rain ambience, horn accents, and electric piano create a bittersweet but groove-driven hip-hop framework. Yu-ki’s lyrics and flow anchor the track with authenticity, and by all accounts, the song struck an immediate chord with the band themselves.

Shin Sakiura described crafting the beat by reflecting on his years collaborating with ExWHYZ, while Rachel noted she wanted to capture something “hazy—like an ending, but also like something’s about to start.” It’s a fitting epitaph for a band in their final chapter.

The single drops July 1st at 00:00 JST, mere hours before ExWHYZ’s last Tokyo performance. zION arrives August 26th.

Get “00:00” on streaming platforms and pre-order zION via the official ExWHYZ website. Catch the band’s final shows—including “CLUB Ex FINAL” on August 15th at Spotify O-EAST—through the ticket links on their official site.
