LIZA Debut Shocking

LIZA Debut Shocking "GRIMY CHOCOLATE" MV at Festival

When LIZA took the stage at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU’s “LIZA FEST” on May 2nd, nobody quite expected what came next. After closing out the festival with their performance, the venue darkened—and a short film unlike anything the Visual Kei underground has seen in months began to unfold on screen.

The mysterious imagery had already sparked online buzz after dropping cryptically on X back on April 22nd: five blonde women in black dresses, a young boy, and an unsettling atmosphere that somehow managed to be both hauntingly beautiful and deeply unsettling. But the full context finally arrived that night. This was “GRIMY CHOCOLATE,” the shocking new music video from LIZA’s debut full-length album, THE IMMORTAL PALETTE.

For those discovering LIZA for the first time, the Tokyo-based outfit has been building serious momentum in the VK underground, and THE IMMORTAL PALETTE represents a major creative statement. The album is structured like a short story collection in sonic form, with each track pulling listeners deeper into its narrative world. “GRIMY CHOCOLATE” is perhaps the most divisive track yet: visually striking and cinematically ambitious, yet unafraid to undercut its own tension with moments of dark comedy that had the festival crowd laughing out loud.

The MV itself is a short film experience—layered, strange, and definitely not what you’d expect from a typical Visual Kei release.

The album is already available on all streaming platforms, and Western fans should absolutely dig in. If you want to see what LIZA does live, the band is celebrating their first anniversary with a one-man show at Akabane ReNY alpha on June 23rd, 2026. Tickets range from free (C-tier day-of passes) to ¥10,000 for the full VIP package, which includes rehearsal access, an afterparty at Nishi-Ogikubo BETTYROOM on June 24th, and exclusive merch.

Head to the band’s official site (https://liza-official.jp/) or grab tickets via Ticket Dive. This is a band worth watching closely.
