Kuroyume Reimagines '90s Classics with CORKSCREW 2026 & Drug TReatment 2026
Legendary Japanese rock duo Kuroyume is making a bold creative statement with their first-ever self-cover project: complete re-recordings of two essential ’90s albums, arriving simultaneously on July 15, 2026.
For those unfamiliar with Kuroyume’s legacy, the band—comprising vocalist Kiyoharu and bassist Hitoji—emerged as one of Japan’s most innovative rock acts in the early ’90s. Their major-label debut “for dear” (1994) launched a career that saw virtually every subsequent album chart in the top positions. However, at the height of their fame, Kuroyume announced an indefinite hiatus in 1999, later dissolving in 2009. Their February 2025 reunion after a decade-long break has reignited global interest in their catalog.
Now, Kuroyume is revisiting Drug TReatment (1997) and CORKSCREW (1998)—two commercially massive, critically acclaimed records that defined a generation of Japanese rock. Rather than simply reissue them, the band has completely re-recorded both albums, breathing modern production techniques into the originals while preserving their essential character.

Each 2026 edition contains 12 tracks, including fan-favorites like “少年” (Shonen), “MARIA,” “後遺症 -aftereffect-,” “Like@Angel,” “NITE&DAY,” and “NEEDLESS.” Limited editions include Blu-rays featuring the “少年2026” and “NEEDLESS” music videos plus behind-the-scenes footage.
The packaging is handled by Kosuke Kawamura, an accomplished collage artist who has designed for OASIS, Uniqlo UT, and Adidas—with artist photography from world-renowned photographer RK.
Both albums arrive in standard (¥3,850 / ~$26 USD) and limited deluxe editions (¥7,700 / ~$52 USD). Pre-order bonuses vary by retailer: Tower Records offers exclusive rubber keychains for dual purchases, Amazon includes megajackets and clear files, while other shops carry A4 clear files.

Following the July 15 release, Kuroyume launches “黒夢THE PERFECT DAYS TO DIE” live tour at Tokyo’s TOYOTA ARENA (July 17–19) and the Tokyo GARDEN THEATER (September 6).
This is a landmark moment for longtime fans and newcomers alike—a chance to hear two foundational records reimagined through three decades of hindsight and artistry. Head to the official Yamaha Music pages to secure your copies before limited stock runs out.
