Janne Da Arc & ABC Respect Cover Live Adds Second Date
The respect these two legendary Visual Kei acts command shows no signs of waning. A cover band tribute to Janne Da Arc and Acid Black Cherry has become such a phenomenon that organizers just announced a surprise second show to meet overwhelming demand.
Originally scheduled as a single “women-only” night on September 12th at Shibuya REX, the event sold nearly 1,000 tickets during presale alone. The response was so massive that a second women-only performance has been added for September 13th, with a men-only show following the same evening.
For those less familiar: Janne Da Arc disbanded in 2009 after a legendary run, while Acid Black Cherry continues as a solo project of vocalist Yasu. Both acts fundamentally shaped the sound and aesthetics of 2000s Visual Kei, influencing countless musicians across the scene. Their impact remains so potent that eleven accomplished bandmen from active VK outfits jumped at the chance to celebrate these acts through a dedicated 2-man cover experience.
The lineups feature members from DaizyStripper, 己龍 (Kiryu), 摩天楼オペラ (Matenrou Opera), FEST VAINQUEUR, vistlip, and ν[NEU], all channeling their respective band’s energy into these tribute sets.
Before the live itself, there’s more: a special one-night-only streaming broadcast called “おかわりnight” (Okawari Night) airs May 31st from 8:00 PM–10:30 PM. The first hour features nearly complete footage from an ABC & Janne talk session held on May 9th (Janne Da Arc’s formation anniversary). The second hour turns interactive, with performers accepting live requests for which songs they should perform at the September shows.
